Batavia Downs recap for Sat., 8-29.

 

        Saturday turned into a driving duel between two of the leading drivers at Batavia Downs.  Jim Morrill Jr., the leader in wins going into Saturday with 28, added four more wins to his total.  But Drew Monti was also on a heater, picking up four wins of his own, giving him 15 wins on the season.  Monti won the Open I and Open II Pace.  In the Open II, STRATOSPHERE was super impressive, basically going wire to wire for a pretty easy win in 1:53.3 by two lengths.  That's two wins in a row for STRATOSPHERE.  And in the Open I, Monti got a nice trip with BLACK IS BACK.  He pulled second over behind the favorite, LONG TRAIN RUNNIN, went three wide around the last turn and just got up for the win by half a length in 1:53.4.  BLACK IS BACK paid $12.60.  

        The Stretch Drive crew put in another nights work gambling Saturday night.  Mike and PC combined for 10 winners out of 13 races.  And once again both guys Best Bets came through with wins.  Mike hit the exacta cold in Race 2.  The 3-1 ex paid $15.80.  He also had the exacta in Race 5.  The 4-5 ex paid $9.70.  Mike stayed hot hitting another exacta in Race 6.  The exacta of 1-6 paid $15.60.  PC hit his Best Bet, STRATOSPHERE in Race 4.  And both guys had the ex and tri, and PC had the super too.  There was a dead heat for second, and the trifectas paid $29 and $19.  PC also had the winners of Races 8, 10, and 12.  It wasn't an easy night gambling for us, but we hope we helped make everyone a little money, or at least not lose too much.  The boys will be back for another night of racing at Batavia on Wednesday.  Let's get the money!!
