NYSS at Tioga recap from Sunday, 6-28

Image
The 3 Year Old Colt Pacers invaded Tioga Downs on Sunday and put on quite the show.  It was a great day of NYSS racing once again.  Let's cover a couple of the highlights to start with.          - RACE 3 - NYSS 3YO COLT PACE - $38,233 We were all looking forward to this race and seeing what Splash Brother could do against this group of colts.  After a very impressive showing at the Meadowlands last week where he won from the 10 hole in 1:48.2, we figured another big mile was to come.  Tyler Buter put Splash Brother right on the front and went the half in 53.  But Major Betts and Dexter Dunn sat a very comfy 2 hole trip and coming down the stretch the Major easily cruised by Splash Brother for the 3 length win in 1:49.4.  A very impressive showing for this one trained by Mark Harder.          - RACE 6 - NYSS 3YO COLT PACE - $38,934 This one looked like a very competitiv...

Buffalo Raceway recap. Saturday, 6-27

Image
Once again "The Stretch Drive" crew spent the night in the simulcast center, watching racing from Buffalo Raceway, Meadowlands, Scioto, and Northfield.  Tons of action all evening long.  Ray Fisher Jr. had another great night in the bike at Buffalo, leading all drivers with three wins.  In the 7th race, Fisher and Western Conquest came from the clouds and were flying down the stretch to pick up the win in 1:57.  Western Conquest paid $12 to win in the Class B AE: OPT CL $12,500 event.  In race 8, the Class AA -OPEN, Shawn McDonough fired Class Six out of the 6 hole and sat in the pocket behind China Dream.  Down the stretch Class Six came through the passing lane and got up to win by a neck.  Trainer Sabrina Shaw has Class Six real sharp, winning three in row at Buffalo.          Our night of gambling at Buffalo was a strange one.  Mike and PC started the night off hot.  But as things ...

Recap of NYSS at Tioga Sunday, 6-21.

Image
The first day of NYSS racing from Tioga Downs proved to be an exciting one.  The racing and wagering kept us here at "The Stretch Drive" on the edge of our seats.  We spent the night squeezing home some much needed winners.  Tim Tetrick had a very productive day in the bike, leading all drivers with three wins.             The 5th race was the NYSS 3YO Filly Trot with a purse of $55,000.  Love A Good Story, with Andy Miller went off the betting favorite and went wire to wire in 1:53 to take home the easy victory.  In the 8th, The Roll With Joe Open Pacing Stake with a purse of $164,000, Backstreet Shadow went a very impressive mile winning in 1:49.  The driver trainer combo of Tetrick and Burke was too much to handle for the favorite, Bettor's Wish, who went a brutal mile but still managed to get up for 3rd at the wire.           It wa...

Recap of Buffalo Raceway Saturday, 6-20

Saturday night at Buffalo Raceway had some extremely exciting racing.  The first race was a sign of things to come for the rest of the night.  Spring Terror made a huge move to pull off the major upset right at the wire over Story Book.  David McNeight III had a perfect drive getting up just in time at a huge price of 30-1.  Triple Sticks had a very nice night with three wins on the card.  Another highlight on the night was the AA -OPEN HDCP.  ILUVTOMAKEMONEY and driver Ray Fisher Jr. got the big win in a loaded field.  More huge payouts as this one paid $48.20 for the win.  We hope you had it!     Our handicappers Paul and Mike had some good picks and some just misses.  Mike's picks had a bit of a tough night and race 1 was one tough beat.  Mike picked 4-1-7 in the first.  The 7, Spring Terror just got up at the light to beat the 4, Story Book.  At odds of 30-1 and 8-1 this exacta paid a r...

Welcome to The Stretch Drive.

Image
First of all, thanks for clicking on our brand new harness racing and gambling blog, "The Stretch Drive".  This is a quick introduction to the three guys that will be running this blog, and what to expect from us.  My name is Erik, and I'll be doing most of the writing.  We also have my brother Mike and my cousin Pauly contributing to the site with expert harness racing analogy and of course, their winning picks.  Between the three of us we have damn near 75 years of experience in the harness racing industry in some compacity.  Including gambling.  Our families have owned harness horses since we were all very young.  This has cultivated an extreme passion in us for harness racing and wagering.  We've been going to race tracks together as far back as I can remember.  Local tracks like Batavia Downs and Buffalo Raceway, and we've traveled to other tracks like Northfield Park, Tioga, and Vernon.   ...
