NYSS at Tioga recap from Sunday, 6-28
The 3 Year Old Colt Pacers invaded Tioga Downs on Sunday and put on quite the show. It was a great day of NYSS racing once again. Let's cover a couple of the highlights to start with.
- RACE 3 - NYSS 3YO COLT PACE - $38,233
We were all looking forward to this race and seeing what Splash Brother could do against this group of colts. After a very impressive showing at the Meadowlands last week where he won from the 10 hole in 1:48.2, we figured another big mile was to come. Tyler Buter put Splash Brother right on the front and went the half in 53. But Major Betts and Dexter Dunn sat a very comfy 2 hole trip and coming down the stretch the Major easily cruised by Splash Brother for the 3 length win in 1:49.4. A very impressive showing for this one trained by Mark Harder.
- RACE 6 - NYSS 3YO COLT PACE - $38,934
This one looked like a very competitive field of colts with many possible winners. JK Last Chance had the 6 hole and got away 6th on the rail. After a half in 55 seconds, Wally Hennessey moved this one to the outside and eventually circled the field for the win in 1:50.4. Trained by Jim McDonald, this was one of Wally's five wins on the card at Tioga. JK paid $14.80 for the win. This colt appears to have a very bright future.
This was not an easy card to handicap, and Mike and PC struggled a bit on this one. We managed to give out three winners out of the 9 stakes races. They both picked the 5, Mr Dunnigans to win race 1. And PC gave out the straight tri of 5-4-1. Mike gave out the exacta box in the 4th race. It finished 5-1 and paid $45. And in race 10, PC gave out the winner and exacta of 5-6. Steuben Warlock was 7-1 ML and went off 3-1. The exacta paid $26.80. Mike also had this exacta box in race 10. Overall it was a tough gambling day but we did manage to hit a couple races. We'll be back, because that's what we do. Again, thanks for following and let's get the money.
