Recap Buffalo Sat., 7-18.
What a night of racing we had on Saturday. It was the final card of the season for Buffalo Raceway, and Meadowlands had an incredible night, featuring The Meadowlands Pace. We had all systems go in our simulcast center last night watching every race we could. At Buffalo, Kevin Cummings had himself a night, leading all drivers with three wins, including taking home the AA Open HDCP with Percy's Z Tam.
- Race 2 - Pace - Class AB HDCP - $10,000
On a hot night when the front end seemed to be very strong, David Mcneight III left out of the 4 hole with Utah Beach. They got to the front at the 1/4 in 28.1. Arch O Matic and Kevin Cummings had the rail and got away second. Utah Beach got to the half in 56.2 and it appeared to be a two horse race. Around the final turn, Cummings pulled Arch O Matic to the outside and battled Utah Beach down the stretch, but Utah Beach held on for the win by a neck, paying $4.50 for the win.
- Race 7 - Pace - Class AA - Open HDCP - $12,000
The field for this race appeared to be stacked and looked like it was set up to be a good one. Kevin Cummings left out of the 4 hole with Percy's Z Tam and got right to the lead. Jack Rice sat the 2 hole with China dream and they went to the 1/4 in a moderate 29 seconds. Mcneight III pulled Daylight Rush first over just before the half in 58.3. Around the last turn Percy's Z Tam appeared to be pulling away, but Daylight Rush flew down the stretch to make it a near photo finish. Percy held on to win by a head, paying $8.80 to win.
Mike and PC went out with a bang at Buffalo Raceway. They had 6 wins each on the night. PC was hot early, picking the winner of races 2,3,4, and 5. He had Atlantis in the 4th, who won and paid $12.40. Mike also had the winner of races 3,5,6, and 7. Combined, they had the pick5 winner easily. We thought it paid really good, $192.25 for $1. The guys also ended the night strong combining to pick the late double. PC picked Lady Justice to win race 12, which she did, paying $6.40. And Mike had the 13th race winner, Windsong Lord, who paid $11 to win. The double of 3-5 paid a huge $39.20. Well, that does it for Buffalo Raceway, we'll continue to cover NYSS races and soon will be covering Batavia Downs.
