Recap Batavia Downs, Wed., 8-12

The crew put in a hard days work yesterday.  But it's all fun for us over here at The Stretch Drive.  We had a great time interviewing Buffalo Raceway leading driver Billy Davis Jr. before the races.  Check out the interview on our social media platforms.  Thanks for hanging out with us Billy.  Then the guys watched and wagered on the races all night from the Batavia Downs Hotel.  The racing was great, the wagering, not so much.  Jim Morrill Jr. lead all drivers again with three wins on the card.  Ray Fisher Jr. had a couple wins, including a very impressive mile by STATE OFMYHEAD AS, and LUNAR CREDIT remains super hot.  Let's cover a couple races.

Race 1 - Pace - Fillies and Mares Open II - $7,500

This was a great field with a few dropping from the Open I.  LADY LONDON (Fisher Jr.) was the lone leaver from the 2 hole and after a little work she got to the front and went to the 1/4 in a quick 26.4.  PROTECT BLUE CHIP (Billy Davis Jr.), the 3-4 betting favorite, pulled first up around the first turn and they got to the half in 56 seconds.  LADY LONDON kept a two length lead down the backstretch going to the 3/4 pole in 1:24.1 and won the race by a half length in 1:54.

Race 7 - Trot - Open I - II Handicap - $7,500

IL MAGO won his first two races at Batavia Downs by four lengths and was assigned the 7 hole.  It didn't bother the betters as he went off 1-2.  But STATE OFMYHEAD AS (Fisher Jr.) had other ideas Wednesday night.  Fisher tried a different approach and left hard from the 1 hole with STATE, seating everyone behind him, and it was basically over from there.  He set fractions of 28, 56.3, 1:26.1, and won by an easy four lengths in 1:57.  IL MAGO (Jim Morrill Jr.) had a bit of a tough trip and finished second.

Mike and PC combined for six winners on the night.  It was a tough night of wagering for us as a few races were very unpredictable.  PC did give out the winner of race 3, and had the trifecta cold.  JIMMY C R paid $11.80 and the tri paid $27.40.  He also gave out the winner and exacta key in race 4.  DUNESIDE SPORT paid $7.90 and the 3-5 ex came back $27.80.  Mike gave out the winner and tri and super key in race 12.  HP SISSY won and the tri paid $28 and the super $52.25.  He also had the exacta box in race 13.  The 1-3 ex paid $11.80.  Thanks for following along with us.  We'll be back for more racing with Batavia Downs on Saturday.
